How do I switch views and keep the current document selection?
Switching views while keeping your selection is very valuable when exploring, finding documents in context of one you're looking at, adding selections from categorized views to briefcases in date order, etc.
- I'll select a document in the 'by From' view - the extract (shown by the torn yellow page icon) highlighted below.
- While holding the Crtl key down, l'll click on the view I want to switch to, in this case, the 'by Issue/Topic' view. The same extract 00001.07 is selected. We can see at a glance all other documents in this Issue/Topic category, 'Defective Part Issues > Sky High Elevators knew parts were defective'.
You can use this shortcut in many different ways. For example, if to switch to the selected document below in the 'by Date' view from the 'by Entered date' view, simply highlight it and while holding the Ctrl key,
click the 'by Date' view to place you at it, without searching or scrolling.
